BOOK 2019: The Secrets of Closing the Sale: Zig Ziglar

Summary:

Zig Ziglar provides many tips and tricks and most importantly mindset perspective changes that help people be more successful in sales. Illustrative examples as well as the principles of what the examples provide help to make the concepts relatable.

Having the right attitude tops the list of sales techniques. Your attitude towards sales, yourself, and others. How to flex your imagination in selling and eliciting emotions. Dealing with objections and going for the close.

Lots of great content here, and although I won’t be using all of it, there are a few that were helpful that I definitely will be including as part of future interactions.

I will likely be reading through it again in the future as I start digesting the comments.

Why I decided to read it

I never considered myself a sales person. I was expected to sell as part of my previous roles, and never had a good feeling when I had to do it. At the same time, I realize how important selling has been.

I have heard the name Zig Ziglar in the context of sales several times and decided on this one after reading the captions of this various books.

I can relate to many of the techniques which are back by my experience and training of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic-Programming). Specifically vocal tonality and matching.

Who should read it

Everyone looking to get better at sales. Considering that pretty much every role involves some part of sales, then pretty much everyone should read it.

Memorable highlights for me

It’s not about the sales process, but about the sales person.

The buyer is the winner.

Make sure you have a product/service that you believe in.
